You're already working hard. Why not be sure your time is being spent in the most efficient and effective way possible? We remove the roadblocks so that athletes can reach their full athletic potential. We’ll take your hard work and translate it to performance via focused, periodized programs.
This year take your training to the next level with professional strength and conditioning programs designed for the sport of ultimate.
What is The Ultimate Athlete Project?
The Ultimate Athlete Project helps you do the off season right with programs that build a base of strength and power. We continute into the preseason and shift the focus to more conditioning work. In season, you'll have programs with reduced volume to help you maintain your gains without overtraining. One training session builds upon another. One phase builds upon another.
Inside the website you'll have access to a new phase of training each month. Download training logs to take with you to the gym. Watch video demonstrations of each exercise so you know what you're doing. Choose a schedule from 3-6 days per week that works for you. Ask questions in the forums if you run into any problems. Share your experiences and be inspired by other athletes in The Ulimate Athlete Project.
Who is Melissa?
I have been playing ultimate for over 15 years. My passion for ultimate (and my aging body) drove me to look for the most efficient and most effective ways to train so that I could keep up and continue playing at a high level. When I revamped my own training, not only was I able to keep up with younger players, I became a far better athlete in my 30's than I ever was in my 20's. Many ultimate players my age have gotten similar results. I only wish that I had known how to train properly from the very beginning. If you're just starting out in your ultimate career, The Ultimate Athlete Project will give you what I never had. Take full advantage and enjoy a long and awesome athletic career!
I'm not just an ultimate player. I am also a CSCS certified strength and conditioning coach. I have read volumes of books and journals in order to develop my training programs. I have had the opportunity to work where professional athletes do their training and that experience completely verified what I had already learned. I know how professional athletes train and I would like to bring ultimate players closer to that ideal. The Ultimate Athlete Project uses the same fundamental principles and the same type of strength training philosophy used by many professional athletes.
I am the author of The Ultimate Athlete Handbook, and I have taught my training principles to ultimate players all over the world.
The programs in The Ultimate Athlete Project are the culmination of my efforts.
I was in the best playing shape of my life this season after 9 months of UAP, and I am 44 yo. I used to feel totally beat up after a tournament, but I feel better after, and recover sooner now than ever before.

The UAP has made be fitter and stronger in my 30's than I ever was in my 20's. With no gym knowledge before this it was easy to understand and see how it applies to ultimate and overall strength and conditioning.
I've never felt this good about my fitness and explosiveness heading into regionals. Even with injuries this year physically I feel fantastic.
The UAP got me into the best ultimate shape of my life. The program is efficient, easy-to-follow, and you don't have to spend endless hours planning your own workouts.

UAP is great! It helped me stayed focus and motivated through the year. I have never been that consistent before in my training. All comp players should follow a program like the UAP!
I started the program 2 years ago and it's amazing the difference I feel going into tryouts! Everyone else is winded, whereas I feel strong and quick. It's great being able to continue into the season and see a big difference in how my body reacts to the riggers of tournaments and practices. Whereas in years past I would constantly pull or strain something, these last two years have been injury free thanks to proper strengthening and prepping of the appropriate muscle groups. THANK YOU MELISSA AND UAP!!!!!
Yes! The UAP completely changed my understanding of what I could and couldn't do as a player. I am stronger and quicker, and I know how valuable functional training is for a sport that I spent a lot of time playing, and not a lot of time thinking about how to actually better.
I've had an interest in anatomy and exercise physiology since I was 12, and have read/learned a decent bit about the subject from many sources. I thought I had a pretty good idea of how to train myself. I didn't know how wrong I was until I started this program. I've had better results and feel like a more complete athlete on the UAP than on anything else I've done.
Would I recommend UAP to friends and ultimate players? In a heartbeat!
I love the progress I see in my game thanks to the UAP! I feel stronger, recover faster, and I've had so many complaints about how hard it is to get open when I'm on defense. :)

Before the UAP, I would work out inconsistently, and choose to do what felt I should do that day at the gym. As a UAP member, I have my year planned out with periodization, including the exact workouts to do each day and week. I am now working out 3-5 days a week. The UAP is the boost I needed.

I'm 36 years old and I haven't been in as good shape since my early 20s. I'm absolutely loving the program, it's well designed and easy to follow!
UAP has not only made me more aware of the huge impact that strength and conditioning has on the game, but also does the thinking and planning for me so I can get the most out of my gym time!

The UAP is a great benefit for me this year. After years of recovery from giving birth to my son and returning to ultimate, I am seeing significant results after 2 months. Melissa's designed programs are easy to fit into your schedule and are surprisingly challenging. I can't wait to see the results come regular season!

The UAP is not only a programme - it is a learning tool. Since I have joined I have learnt so much about my body and training. The physical aspects of the programme are extraordinary but what really makes me love it (even when I am not as disciplined as I should be) is how I have changed thinking about how my body should move. This will be with me into my healthy old age.

I feel so much stronger as I finish up Phase 2 of the UAP! I can't wait to see how my game changes as I use my newly developed strength in this upcoming season!

I was travelling/living in Australia and away from my regular training group for 6 months last year. The UAP was a great way to continue a structured, ultimate specific, training program that would build on my previous work and keep me in shape for Aussie nats and then my return to Canada. The SAQ sections introduced some fun new exercises too!
I've previously only been a bodyweight and cardio athlete so when my coaches and captains recommended that I make the switch to a weight lifting off program I was really dreading it. The best thing about the UAP so far though is the workouts are challenging but not impossible and I can already feel a difference in my game and strength.
Thank you for the program! I feel much better prepared for tryouts this year, than I have in past years. I also feel fast now! I can't wait to continue seeing results as the season progresses. =)
Things have been great. I jumped right into Phase 1 and I am loving it! Every workout makes me feel like I'm improving as an athlete, yet I am never burned out afterwards. It's great for me that each training day is no more than an hour/1:15 in length. You have clearly put a lot of work into this program and I cannot thank you enough for it. I think UAP will help make this will be my best year playing ultimate yet!
I just finished playing in my college club team's first tournament this last weekend, and it was easily the best I have ever felt during and after a tournament.
Straight up, it has been fantastic. Having been in the gym previously I was familiar with the concepts, but the UAP brought it to a whole new level. Having a program to follow, switching up exercises, periodization and different programs for different points in the season were all huge positives. I can say without question I feel much stronger after UAP than at any previous point. I had an excellent season (I played with an out of town team, so there less trainings and more time to focus on my own work), but come Canadian Nationals, I was playing every second point with ease and feeling explosive and strong on the field. Thanks again, all of your effort has definitely helped me become a better player.
Love the programme, pretty sure it's what's kept me bossing the uni season. Currently trying to rope everyone else into joining up too!
I just want to say thanks for all that you do! I love the Ultimate Athlete Project and have noticed a huge difference in my overall playing ability. The program is very well put together with helpful cues and videos. Thanks again!
